High Grand Falls Multi-Purpose DamRiver Tana
The High Grand Falls Multi-Purpose Dam is one of the LAPSSET Corridor projects planned to be on River Tana and its site is located 50 km downstream of the Kiambere Hydro Power Station along the River Tana in Kitui, Embu and Tharaka Nithi Counties. The project principle components are the High Grand Falls dam and hydro power plant with ancillary installations; and the downstream area irrigation schemes, pumping station, flood protection infrastructure and rural domestic water supply. This water supply is projected to cater for the needs of 15 million people, solving the water shortage situation in Lamu County.
Current Status
Currently the project Detailed designs are completed, Commercial Contract has been signed and Build Operate Transfer (BOT) proposals being solicited from Investors and also Negotiations are ongoing on financing and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
